New features in Excel 2010

Excel 2010 has some wonderful features like customisation of the ribbon so you can create your own group in your own ribbon, sparklines (min charts) in cells next to data, conditional formatting with icons, smart pivot tabling (slicer). MS Project and Visio Links to Excel

If you crate a project plan in MS Project then you can export it to Excel so at least those wihout MS Project can see a basic outline of your tasks and resources and dates.

In a similar way you can link shapes in Visio to Excel.

Publisher 2010

Publisher 2010 allows you to create some really impressive leaflets, brochures and posters. There is also a really simple to use ‘mail merge facility’ which can create, for example, certificates for course attendees from an Excel list. Office 2010 Courses

There are a whole host of new features in Office 2010. We’ve started conducting courses in the usual subjects including Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint and Project.

You can now ‘broadcast’ live your PowerPoint presentation through an internet link straight from PowerPoint 2010 as long as your client has a Windows live account.
There are Sparklines in Excel (simple chart lines) against data – easy to use.
Great new Smart Art’s in Word.
Conversations in Outlook to group together messages to and from same email addresses.
Loads more.

MS Query in Excel

There is a little used feature in Excel called MS Query. This is found in the external data section and allows you to create a data source to a set of data like that found in an Access database. It then allows you to write a simple MS Query (like an Access Query) to retrieve data into the worksheet.

Excel 2010 new features

If you’re wondering about the differences between Excel 2007 and Excel 2010 don’t worry for long. The ribbon and tab change in Office 2007 products remain but the Office button has returned back to a File tab on the later version. Also you can now configure each ribbon and introduce your own new tabs in 2010 Office. Apart from that and some enhancements to charts there’s not a lot of difference between the two.
